Our professional team have decades of experience at resolving conflict in organisations, often known as institutional conflict. Based in Nelson, we also work throughout Tasman and Marlborough.
Conflict in organisations:
When we talk about conflict in organisations or institutional conflict we are talking about disputes that arise within rest homes, schools, institutions, local government bodies, hospitals, and so on.
Institutional conflict resolution helps to deal with a dispute occurring between the organisation and a client/customer/patient. And differs from a conflict that may occur within the organisation, between individuals or between groups. We would assess this using workplace dispute resolution.
Whatever the issue may be, always aim to get help at the point things are escalating. A good rule of thumb is, if you are thinking about a situation when you could be sleeping, it’s time to act. Perhaps a complaint has arisen and you’re not seeing resolution as you would expect. This could mean it’s time to get help.
Again we follow our usual process of meeting separately with the parties. This helps us to understand their separate issues. It also allows each party to fully explore their views and thoughts in a safe and confidential environment. Where possible, we then move to mediation. At this point, the parties come together to talk through their issues, understand the other’s perspective and find a way forward that all parties support. We can record this as a Mediated Agreement or a Memorandum of Understanding.
The earlier an independent mediator becomes involved the quicker the resolution, the less emotional impact on the organisation’s representatives and the individuals/families, and the less cost… We help you deal with conflict before lawyers or potentially, the media, are involved.
